I have finally made the leap – albeit a short one. You see, a few years ago I went to the 4 Bridges Art Festival in Chattanooga, TN and that day sparked an idea. As I was walking through the displays filled with handmade items, I turned to my mom and stated that I could see myself selling my own pieces one day. As encouraging as ever, her response was that if I wanted to, I could do just that.
So just over 2 years later, I’ve decided to give it a go by launching my own store on Etsy.com. Etsy is a fabulous site where artisans sell their handcrafted items – I blogged about it on another site I manage – A Cause for Hope. What’s so great about Etsy is that I can test the waters if you will to see if my items will sell. At the moment, I have listed some old supplies I will no longer use but eventually my jewelry designs will also be listed. In fact, I already have an idea for a few pieces I’m going to make when I take my PMC class at Abeille in a few weeks!
The name of my store – and the source of this blog name – is Park Lane Designs. Park Lane is where my family lived in the late 1970s / early 1980s. My memories of living on Park Lane include bike rides until dusk, trick or treating with neighbors and friends, and walking up to the end of the cul-de-sac and into the orchards that bordered our street. It truly was a magical place to be a young child! And I chose Designs because I know myself – as I start to explore my ‘crafty’ side more and more, who knows what I’ll get into one of these days! I have always been a person that likes to explore and create and try new things … I am open to wherever this venture leads!
So welcome to Park Lane Designs … I’m going to write about my own work and also highlight some of the artisans I use in my pieces. Enjoy & check back often!
